Résumé:
In alignment with the Paris Agreement, countries around the world are actively working to reduce carbon dioxide emissions as part of their climate change mitigation strategies. Among these efforts, biochar (Biochar), recognized in the IPCC guidelines as a key technology, is being actively implemented in Japan. This project has been selected as one of the « Best Practices » at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, underscoring its international significance.
Furthermore, Japan has established the world’s first public carbon credit certification system, positioning biochar as a leading carbon-negative technology through collaboration between industry, government, and academia. Additionally, partnerships with European academic and industrial organizations are being strengthened to accelerate its global implementation.

This seminar will explore the significance of biochar’s societal implementation, the formation of carbon-negative business platforms and ecosystems in Japan and Asia, and their implications from a business administration perspective. The discussion will offer insights into sustainable economic and environmental strategies for the future
